On-Site Questions

Are you experienced at working on sites where CDM regulations apply?

Yes, TFL engineers have worked within the construction, building, transport and other relevant industries and have a lot of experience working under CDM regulations. We make sure all our personnel keep any relevant awareness training up-to-date.

Are your men trained and competent?

Will you have supervisors on site?

Yes, normally we do supply a supervisor with all projects that take place away from our works.

How many men can you supply?

We can supply as many as your job requires, all trained and qualified. We have a core workforce of engineers and the ability to pull in more, whose quality and reliability have been proven to us many times before.

Will the equipment brought to site be tested and certified under current regulations?

Yes, all our equipment meets current required standards.

Are your welders qualified?

Yes, they are highly experienced and qualified to British and ASME standards in GMAW, GTAW and MMA. Welding procedure qualification records are held for group 1 to group 8 materials. If you have a non-standard welding job we don't mind getting them trained up and certified especially for it.

What experience do you have of working on site?

TFL engineers undergo health and safety training as standard, including passport to safety. They also have a lot of experience working under CDM regulations and to the individual site regimes of our clients.

Is the company qualified to BS EN ISO 9001: 2008?

Yes.

Do you have environmental qualifications?

We have an environmental policy that we review on a regular basis so we can keep up with current legislation, regulation and best practice. You can read all about our environmental policy here.

What types of welding can you do?

All types, using standard and non-standard materials. Our welders are apprentice-trained, qualified and certified for the usual materials and are extremely experienced (qualified to British and ASME standards in GMAW, GTAW and MMA; welding procedure qualification records are held for group 1 to group 8 materials). If you have a more unusual or complex welding proposition, we can easily get certification for that too – there's isn't much that our welders haven't tackled before.

Workshop Questions

How big is your works?

We have excellent works facilities just off the M1 near Sheffield. We occupy one part of a bigger site that also houses other engineering companies within the CTL group. As a result we have expansive assembly areas inside and outdoors. Please check out the specific square footage and other facilities on our interactive interactive map.

What's the biggest load you can get out of your shop?

Up to 30 tonnes in weight single crane lift, 22 metres in length, 5 metres wide and 4.5 metres high.

Do you have qualified welders?

Yes, they are not only qualified by have a lot of experience with different materials and processes. If you have a non-standard welding job we don't mind getting them trained up and certified especially for it.

Can you provide a manufacturing data book?

Yes, no problem.

Is the company qualified to BS EN ISO 9001: 2008?

Yes.

What's the heaviest lift your cranes can cope with?

We have a two of cranes that will take a load up to 30 tonnes each. There are many other cranes at our works with varying capacity.

How many men do you have?

We have a medium-sized core team of engineers, plus the capability to bring in as many as are required to fulfil larger or urgent jobs. Thanks to the way we do business – building good working relationships based on trust and reliability, with clients, partners and suppliers – we have built a supportive network that can handle anything.

If you have a more unusual or complex welding proposition, we can easily get certification for that too – there's isn't much that our welders haven't tackled before.

What types of product do you manufacture?

Large and small items can be machined at our facility. We offer a versatile manufacturing facility specialising in tube manipulation; pipe fabrication and plate and structure fabrication. This allows us to manufacture various products such as power station boiler tubes, fire fighting equipment, welded beam manufacture, heavy plate ducting systems, hoppers, pipe manifolds and headers, tanks and crane components. Complementary services include non-destructive testing, design, project management and a range of on-site services.
